Commercial trade between Kosovo and Albania, in the first half of 2022, reached the figure of 225 million euros. Exports from Kosovo to Albania increased by 50% compared to last year, while exports from Albania to Kosovo increased by 14.5%.
According to the ambassador of Albania in Kosovo, Qemal Minxhozi, this index is considered positive and satisfactory. In an interview released by KosovaPress, Minxhozi affirmed that there will be a grater increase in commercial trade for the second semester of 2022.
“In the field of trade between Albania and Kosovo we have a satisfactory growth. Exports from Kosovo to Albania recorded a 50% increase compared to the first half of last year. While the exports of Albania to Kosovo increased by 14.5%. The total value of trade between the two countries amounts to 225 million euros,”said Minxhozi.
Speaking about the opening of the borders between Albania and Kosovo on weekends, the ambassador said that the base of tourism in Albania is Kosovo, adding that currently the largest influx of Kosovar holidaymakers is in the Shëngjin area and Velipoja (northeastern Albania).
On the other hand, Ambassador Minxhozi states that the agreements signed between the two countries are in the implementation phase, while he mentions the feasibility project for the railway between the two countries, which must be concluded by the end of this year. As a positive indication, he also cites the implementation of the agreement on the removal of quotas for the admission of students from the two countries and the agreement on the unification of the ABC book.
